Thank you, Audio Dramatists

I just wanted to say a huge thanks to the Audio Drama community for coming out in numbers to both nominate and vote for us in the 2015 UK Podcasters Awards. Being Scottish, we were naturally pessimistic about our chances of winning, and just being a finalist alongside two other excellent shows Attaboy Clarence and The Comedian’s Comedian, was a real honour.

Unfortunately Robert couldn’t make it to the awards ceremony, which was held on the first evening of the superb New Media Europe conference in Manchester last weekend. By the time we got to our category (Performing Arts), I had written us off completely – there’s never a glass half-full in my house – so when MC Pete opened the golden envelope and said the words “Audio” and “Drama” I nearly spilled my pint.

ukpodawards-2015-winnerTo us this was more than simply trying to win a trophy (as nice a trophy as it is, incidentally), we wanted to try and raise the profile of Audio Drama as a medium in an area populated with those at the forefront of podcasting and social media. With the many great conversations I had with people over the course of the event, and with the podcast being listed as a winner beside some extremely high-profile shows, I like to think that Audio Drama might just have one or two more fans this week.

So thank you for making that happen, thanks for your continued support, and I hope that we can repay you in the many interviews we’d still like to do, and the many topics we’d still like to cover on your favourite (or at least second or third favourite) Audio Drama Production Podcast.
